ANDRITAL is a sales agency for raw and tanned leathers located in Santa Croce sull’Arno, an area where most of our clients’ tanning industries are also located. We also operate in Arzignano and in other parts of Italy.
The firm was founded on March 16, 1975 by the owner Andrea Baronti, who, in 1970, had begun dealing in raw and semi-finished leathers from India, Pakistan, and East Pakistan, which then became Bangladesh in 1971.
Over the years, with the support of his father Edo and the 1977 arrival of collaborators Piergiorgio Nuti and Adriana Vallini, who later became and are still today associates, the firm expanded its contacts to many other countries, like Australia, New Zealand, Russia, and all of South America.
The current structure of the company was consolidated with the addition of Simona Vezzosi to the team in 1989 and her contribution to administrative affairs, followed by Riccardo Baronti in 1997, who boosted sales and reorganized the IT system.
India, Pakistan,
and Bangladesh are now historical markets
tied to the birth of our firm. From India, through our exclusive
agent, Stanley & Co., who deals in contacts with suppliers and
the procurement of hides, we can supply goatskin, crossbreed, and
buffalo leather that has been semi-tanned with vegetable products
(the famous E.I. Tanned, or the East India Tanning) as well as large-size
buffalo hides for furnishing. We find the same hides in Pakistan
and Bangladesh, where we operate through our agent, S.P.Enterprise.
Following our first voyage to Australia
and New Zealand, during which we made contact
with suppliers of cattle hides, and especially wetblue, salted cowhide,
and pickled kangaroo, we developed sales throughout the national
territory.
A few years later we began studying Eastern European
markets: Russia, the Ukraine,
Baltic States, Rumania,
Bulgaria etc., which regularly export, especially
from the Northeast, significant quantities of calfskins mostly salted,
but also wetblue and crust for footwear and furnishings.
Initial contacts in the furnishing sector have allowed
us to expand and intensify relations we had already developed in
Central and South America with subsequent
developments in wetblue and crust, dyed, buffed, stuccoed, etc.
We also boast a long-term presence in various European
nations like Holland, France,
and Germany, where we have selected suppliers
of first-quality salted calfskins, as well as salted cattlehides
for leather and other specialised uses.
Finally, Central and South Africa,
as well as the United States and the ex-Yugoslavia
are other sources where we maintain regular contacts.
